First fish of the year

It's January 1, and I had just printed out my Maryland fishing license with trout stamp. It's late in the afternoon and I'm trying to figure out where to go on such short notice. The choice was easy actually. I picked up my Tenkara rod and headed for my local pond about ten minutes away. True, I wasn't fishing a spring creek and I didn't catch a 20" inch monster on a size 24 dry fly. However; that wasn't the point. What mattered was that I was outside fishing.
Catching pan fish on a pond is a great way to start the new year.

I just moved back to Michigan from Montana, and other than family, bluegill fishing was what I missed most.

May that fish be the first of many this year. Thanks for sharing.
